Here’s a property at Williamstown that is having some outdoor renovations done. The following pictures and work below were completed over a few days on separate occasions. The biggest difference is the new shed and 2 x 22,500L water tanks. My job was to do a little demolition, prepare the shed and tank pad as well as dig the trenching for power, water and sewage.
I was called back out again to a previous clients property to help make their jungle of a backyard into a useable space for their kids to play. I think they were just hoping to be able to put a trampoline up at best given the state of the area. Their property is very hilly with lots of rocks among the surface. Not to worry though, I could see how I’d make this work for them.
It’s been quite some time since I did a Pool Fill In type excavation job and I thought it would be best to blog about the details of this recent one I did. Located in Elizabeth, my client was wanting to have this pool removed, filled, leveled and ready for turfing. A new house definitely deserves a level (pardon the pun) playing field to start with. That’s exactly what I was contracted to do by the owner of this house in Gawler recently. All the overgrown vegetation, weeds and tree stump needed to be removed and scraped back to start fresh. It’s actually quite amazing how much bigger a space looks when it’s yard leveled!
Here’s two different job sites that I’ve completed some concrete preparation on recently. Both are for new houses that have just been built and the owners are in the process of getting all the outer concreting done. It is definitely one of those big and expensive parts of building your own home and that is why it is paramount to have the preparation done professionally.
This clients backyard was a whole meter (plus some) higher than the house and was not a flat surface at all. Pretty unusable if you ask me and really bad for rain run off. So they wanted this problem sorted out and to do that I had to do a massive backyard dirt removal task. I could see there was a lot of dirt to be taken away and likely more than the owners anticipated.
With a sloping backyard like this, creating a 3-Tier Backyard Rock Retaining Wall is the easiest way to use the space effectively and put in a beautiful garden bed feature. This house is built on a slight high point with the backyard sloping downward to the end of the block. Putting in a retaining wall with take away a chunk of the regular yard maintenance.
Having a Tiered Backyard Rock Retaining Wall created in a yard that is built on a slope is the easiest way to use the space effectively. Take this yard for example. The house is built on the lowest level with the backyard sloping upward to the end of the block. This makes yard maintenance a hassle and even more of an issue trying to give your kids a leveled area to play on.
I’ll be honest, this shed demolition and removal job turned out to be bigger than I originally thought. Turned out the shed was, well basically a shed within a shed. Completely decked out with insulation and inner wall for a teenage style retreat. Having kids myself (now all grown up thank god) I can relate with wanting to give them their own space away from the main house.
On the backyard renovation wagon again today. This yard was not big at all and what space they did have was pretty much unusable for anything recreational. Too much of an awkward concrete jungle for such a small space in my opinion. But that’s exactly why they hired me. I’m a bit of an expert earthmover when it comes to preparing and transforming a yard in a short time.
This earthmoving job definitely falls into the category of big backyard renovations that I had the pleasure of doing for a fella out at Williamstown. He needed to make his yard easily accessible for large vehicles and easy for them turn around and drive out again. The only solution to that would be a Round-A-Bout style driveway which I was certainly able to create.
What makes a yard renovation really great? It’s one that is fast, affordable and done professionally! And that is exactly what I am all about when I arrive at every single property that I work on. Don put off that niggly task of tidying up your property for fear of it costing you an exuberant amount and being a pain to organise. I can take care of most of the fine details for you.
For a domestic property, this sure is a pretty big backyard and a great size to really do something with. Unfortunately though for the owner, the entire yard is uneven and full of Three Corner Jack Caltrop Weed (ouch). Not exactly appealing for sending the kids out to play on or set up any semi-permanent equipment. Not to worry though, I can certainly sort this out.
Check out this sloping backyard and you tell me what you can do with it in its current state? Pretty much nothing and that’s why this fella has hired me to make it a more useable and family friendly backyard. There is still always going to be a slight slope to the area unless a whole lot (and I mean a lot) of dirt is brought in, otherwise my job is to take the edge off and make it easy to maintain.
For families that have just had their new home built, I’ve notice it is pretty common to be left with what looks more like a ‘dumping site’ then what should actually be their front and back yards. Understandably, this is not always the builders responsibility and the home owners are aware they will need to sort out the Landscaping of their New Home themselves once the build is finished.
The easiest thing you can do to give your yard and property a face lift is to put in new turf. To ensure you get the best results possible, the New Turf Preparation needs to be done correctly and that is exactly what I specalise in and what I completed recently for a great fella out at Tanunda. His yard actually turned out to be quite big after everything had been removed.
Another big Backyard Renovation that I’ve been working on over the course of three days out at Hillbank and as you can see, I initially didn’t think I’d be able to do it simply because I may not have been able get my machines into the area. But I gave it a crack anyway and what do you know? Plenty of room….Just! Check out the total backyard transformation.
Helping out with the excavation duties to install a new Advanced Enviro-Septic (AES) System out at the Barossa Valley. I’ve done plenty of these installations from my time in QLD however here in SA these systems seem to be a fairy new evolution in longer lasting, environmentally friendly and efficient septic systems. So that is exactly what I was doing over the course of three days.
Demo, dig, dump, clear and level! That is exactly what this excavation job was all about and what a massive job it turned out to be. This odd shaped block of land is tucked in between a couple of houses in a suburban area and is destined to be Subdivided by the owner and Developed into two beautiful new house sites. The only problem is it is full to the brim of concrete, debris, rubble and vegetation.
Another backyard renovation today and a big one at that. This was certainly one of those large yards that hadn’t been touched in years, was completely overgrown and would need a far few hours of work thrown at it to get the job down. The owner is looking at putting in a new large shed and therefore needed the area cleared, levelled and ready to go. This required the old run down shed to be completely demolished and removed.
Just look at the difference a little bobcat work and earthmoving can do for a simple backyard renovation. Creates a total change in space, access and aesthetic appeal to the property. I’m sure even Rover (pictured) is happier now his playground is an even surface to run around on. This job today was located out at Hewett, one of my local stomping grounds, and I was asked to excavate their driveway.
A really nice fella just up the road from me was having big, big issues with his Septic Tank. After a bit of investigating we discovered not only was the Sewer Drainage Pipe blocked but it wasn’t configured in the best way. The initial connection position to the tank was not the correct layout and because of this he was only using about 30% of the tanks capacity. Yep a big problem indeed.
What an awesome project this was to work on today and test my skill of visualizing the end result in an otherwise disastrous backyard. As you can see, it turned out to be a total transformation and the client couldn’t have been happier. The addition of a second level to the original single level retaining wall has created a more aesthetic and usable space to work on. I even convinced him of a better layout.
Here’s a fantastic property out at Gould Creek, very large and rural and in need of some New Driveways as you can see from the pictures. These are the jobs I love, I get to use all my machines (Tipper, Excavator and Bobcat) and play in the dirt all day to give this rural property an awesome face lift. I think people often underestimate the difference a bit of professional excavation can really do for their properties.
Back at Roseworthy today and continuing on with some more Earthworks for Mystic Marine – Local Boat Builder. They are currently renovating their new Business Site, which is certainly starting to take shape. I’d just like to mention that these guys are great people and have been awesome clients to work for, so if you are looking for a Boat/Ship Builder and Designer, certainly add them to your list.
I like to call this job ‘The Block 4’. Believe it or not, this started off with one earthmoving service job and from there the word of mouth from neighbour to neighbour of my excavating adventures from Lot 1 soon spread. When you’re having a New House built and need a reliable and trustworthy contractor, you should definitely give me a call. Building a new home should be an adventure.
This clients existing dam was in need of some Bobcat Services. Whilst it was still functioning and holding water, the sides were overgrown with vegetation that was creating uneven edges and slopes toward to the water. This was making it near impossible for the owner to maintain it on his own. So it’s a good thing he got in touch with me, because these jobs are the fun ones that I really enjoy!
I would absolutely love to have my own personal Motorbike Race Track in my backyard and that’s why I took great pride in completing this particular job. This started with a word of mouth enquiry, a hand drawn sketch, a site visit, a good old-fashioned hand shake and ended with a recreational area to occupy a racing inspired family for ages. Am I envious? Heck yes!
I’m certainly equipped to conduct site clean ups and dirt removal with my Tipper and Bobcat Combo Hire. One particular new house construction in Hewett already had the Footings Excavation arranged by the builder, however they had over 100 ton of excess dirt to remove. Fast and efficient is how I work and even though my Tipper holds just 6 ton per load, I got the job done easily.
Out at Angaston preparing my clients backyard for retaining walls to be installed. The yard was like any other that I had been to a dozen times before and levelled out to change it into a drastically different area. Having an uneven yard really limits a home owners choices with how they can turn it into anything remotely recreational that doesn’t involve gardening, especially if you have kids to cater for.
