Located out at Swan Reach in the Barossa Valley, this little shack is being extended to double the living & storey size to enjoy the views of the Murray River. Both Bobcat and Excavator were required to firstly locate and remove an old septic tank that needed to be disposed before leveling out the site and cracking on with the footings excavation.
Once the septic tank was removed, I got to work leveling out the area in preparation for layering the hard fill that was soon to be delivered. Unfortunately due to the location of the shack and access along the Murray River with weight limitations, the dump trucks were unable to transport directly to the site. No worries though, with my 6t Tipper, I was able to load up from the drop off site close by and still be under the weight limit to ferry the fill back and forth. The site was then leveled off in no time.
I then started marking out the footings excavation and got straight to work digging them out, all by eye and experience. It does take a bit of skill to calculate the way in which to excavate the dig that is both the quickest. And that doesn't leave you stranded in the middle of the site with a machine on a mound.
Overall, this job was completed from start to finish in two days, on my own with my Mini Excavator, Tipper and Bobcat Hire Combo. If you've planning a house extension or having a new home built and need your footings excavation taken care of, be sure to give me a call on 0407 155 302 and I'll be happy to assist.
