For a domestic property, this sure is a pretty big backyard in my books. A great size to really do something with. Unfortunately though for the owner, the entire yard is uneven and full of Three Corner Jack Caltrop Weed (ouch). Not exactly appealing for sending the kids out to play on or set up any semi permanent equipment. Not to worry though, my task was to complete a full Backyard Leveling Excavation Service and scrape away all that prickly weed.

You can see in the above image as I've just begun scraping back the top layer that there is a small garden area tucked away in the corner. In here is a few fruit trees and installed water drainage for the yard. Now the only issue with this job was access. I could get my bobcat in with no issues through the garage (see image below), but not my Tipper Truck. What this meant was in order to take away all that scraped off top fill I would have to cart it by the bucket load one at a time back out through the garage and up into my truck. Certainly achievable but it would definitely add more time and more expense for the owner. So we came up with a different, faster and affordable option.

That alternative plan was to leave all the top fill in the yard but hide and use it to the owners advantage. The garden tucked away in the corner was a perfect solution to this problem. Instead of paying for additional time for me to remove the soil and consequent tipping fees, I used that soil to build up the corner garden (pushing all the prickly weed toward the bottom) and create a stepped up level look. The owner already had some nicely placed sleepers bordering the area which worked out perfectly!
